Science Festival in the Laboratories of the SPIN Research Program
Every year, the Science Festival gives young and old alike the chance to marvel at scientific phenomena. This year, the laboratories of the SPIN Resarch Program offered original outreach activities focused on magnetism
At Institut Jean Lamour in Nancy (CNRS/Université de Lorraine)

On Friday, October 3, 2025, more than 200 middle and high school students discovered spintronics and nanomagnetism at the Institut Jean Lamour through tours, lectures, and workshops. The lecture “Rethinking Materials to Meet the Challenges of Big Data” by Stéphane Mangin, Research Professor at the University of Lorraine, and the workshop “Magnetism: From Atom to Hard Drive” by Thomas Hauet, Research Professor at the University of Lorraine, and Pacôme Colin, PhD student at the laboratory, allowed students to immerse themselves in these fascinating fields. A board game in development on magnetism and spintronics was also tested, thanks to Hélène Fischer, Research Professor at the University of Lorraine
At SPINTEC in Grenoble (CEA/CNRS/Université Grenoble Alpes)

From Thursday, October 9 to Saturday, October 11, 2025, SPINTEC participated in the Science Festival at the Parvis des Sciences de Minatech, Ten researchers ran workshops for 4th and 5th grade classes as well as for the general public.
The workshops introduced participants to spintronics but focused mainly on magnetism and electromagnetism, with interactive activities inspired by the educational modules of the SPIN Research Program.
