« Physicienne, pourquoi pas moi » : 28 femmes scientifiques à la rencontre des élèves

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11, 2026, CNRS Physique organized a wrap-up event for a project conducted with 28 educational institutions in the Île-de-France region. The goal: to encourage young girls to pursue careers in scientific fields. Among the speakers were Alexandra Mougin (LPS/CNRS/Université Paris-Saclay) and Pauline Rovillain (INSP/CNRS/Sorbonne Université)

This initiative, organized by CNRS Physique, has given researchers the opportunity to speak at schools. Alexandra Mougin, CNRS Research Director at Laboratoire de Physique des Solides (CNRS/Université Paris-Saclay), and Pauline Rovillain, CNRS Researcher at the Institut des NanoSciences de Paris (CNRS/Sorbonne Université), shared their career paths, daily lives as researchers, and the challenges of their work. The students—both girls and boys—then worked in groups to create portraits of women physicists in various formats: posters, comics, podcasts, videos, and articles.
On February 11, 2026, for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, nearly 200 middle and high school students from the Île-de-France region gathered at the amphitheater of Lycée Pierre-Gilles de Gennes – ENCPB to present their creations. The two researchers were present to answer the students’ questions and provide a more concrete and up-to-date image of careers in physics.
A wonderful initiative to promote diversity in science and demonstrate that research is accessible to everyone.
